Grant Thornton Names Stephen Chipman New CEO June 23, 2009 (Associated Press) NEW YORK - Accounting firm Grant Thornton LLP said Tuesday it has named Stephen Chipman its new chief executive officer. Chipman will replace Edward Nusbaum on Jan. 1. Nusbaum is taking over as CEO of Grant Thornton International at the beginning of 2010. Earlier this month, the accounting firm said Nusbaum would replace David McDonnell, who is retiring, as head of Grant Thornton International. Nusbaum has served as head of Grant Thornton since 2001. Chicago-based Grant Thornton is the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International. Chipman, 47, currently serves as CEO of Grant Thornton's Great China Management Corp. In that role, he has overseen the firm's development and growth of services in China over the past two years. Chipman has worked in various roles at Grant Thornton for 28 years, including serving as managing partner of the U.S. central region between 2003 and 2006. Grant Thornton has tripled its revenue since 2001 to $1.2 billion from $400 million. |
