CalCPA Names Two Recipients of Forbes Award for Highest CPA Exam Scores

Nov. 30, 2007 Two accountants who tied for receiving the highest score on the Uniform CPA Exam in California are receiving $1,000 each from the Accounting Education Committee of the California Society of CPAs.

Wendee Shinsato, CPA, of Los Angeles and Irene Altman of San Francisco are the recipients of the John F. Forbes Award, which is named in honor of CalCPA's secretary-treasurer from 1909-27.

Altman, a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Shinsato, a graduate of Yale and Hawaii Pacific University, achieved a cumulative score of 388/400 on the four-part CPA exam, which they took in 2006. Altman currently works at KPMG in San Francisco, and Shinsato is employed by the Defense Contract Audit Agency in Los Angeles.

The two also received the American Institute of CPAs' Elijah Watt Sells Award for being among the top 10 scorers in the nation on the CPA exam.
