AICPA Fills New Political Affairs Position

Sept. 12, 2007 Mat Young has joined the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as Director of Congressional and Political Affairs, a newly created position. He will be helping to cover a number of issues for the accounting group, including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and tax policy.

Young, 32, is returning to public policy advocacy after a year and a half in Canada and a stint as an independent political consultant.

Young has worked as Director of Economic Policy for U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), with tours working for both the Democratic staff of the House Banking Committee and the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.

A native of Florida, Young holds a master’s degree from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and has an undergraduate degree in economics and urban studies from Trinity University.
