IRS Warns of Yet Another Email Scam

Aug. 27, 2007 (SmartPros) The Internal Revenue Service on Friday warned taxpayers of a new email scam.

The email claims to be from the IRS and advises taxpayers they  can receive $80 by filling out an online customer satisfaction survey.

The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers through email. The IRS urges taxpayers to ignore this solicitation and not provide any requested information.

Other recent email scams involved a "Tax Avoidance Investigation" email claiming to come from the IRS' "Fraud Department," and another intended to fool people into believing they are under investigation by the agency’s Criminal Investigation division.
