Deloitte Nominates New Global CEO, U.S. CEO

March 2, 2007 (SmartPros) Accounting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu said its board has nominated James Quigley as the next global CEO of the firm, and Deloitte & Touche USA has nominated his replacement.

Quigley is currently CEO of Deloitte & Touche USA, LLP, a role he has held for four years, and would take on the global CEO position in a full time capacity. His nomination is subject to a vote by the member firm partners worldwide. Once all processes are finalized, Quigley would start his new role on June 1, 2007.

Quigley would succeed William Parrett, who has led the global unit for four years and whose term ends in May.  Parrett will continue as a senior partner at Deloitte until his mandatory retirement in May 2008.

Separately, the board of the firm's independent U.S. arm, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, nominated Barry Salzberg to replace Quigley as the next chief executive of the accounting firm. Salzberg currently serves as managing partner and chairman of Deloitte's executive committee. His appointment must also be approved by the global 2,600 partners.
