Want to Connect With a Big Four Firm? Try Facebook Jan. 24, 2007 (SmartPros) Accounting firm Ernst & Young LLP is among the nation's Big Four firms, and it has decided to recruit accounting students and recent graduates in a unique way: via social-networking Web site Facebook.com. According to The Wall Street Journal, E&Y wants to hire 5,500 college recruits for internships and entry-level jobs in North America this year. The firm is among many employers who are turning to the Internet, where the younger, tech-savvy generation likes to hang out. In July 2006, as a way to reach out to those about to enter the workforce, E&Y sponsored a page on Facebook with information about the firm and discussion boards aimed at college students. The page is monitored by E&Y recruiters, who identify themselves when they respond to queries, WSJ reported. According to the firm, more than 5,000 Facebook users have joined as E&Y page "members."
