Former Tyco CEO in Fresh Scandal

NEW YORK, July 20, 2005 (United Press International) Just days before he is to be sentenced for looting Tyco International Ltd., former chief executive Dennis Koslowski has become embroiled in a fresh scandal.

Federal investigators want to know who paid for a highfalutin premarital bash for Koslowski's daughter and son-in-law, a weekend that featured scantily clad women -- reportedly paid for their services -- dwarves, a huge yacht and a private jet, the New York Daily News said Tuesday.

Specifically, the Securities and Exchange Commission wants to know if firms eager to do business with Thomas Bruderman, then a big shot trader at Fidelity Investments and the future husband of Sandra Koslowski, paid the bill.

There is no evidence Koslowski, who attended, broke any laws, officials said.

But last month he was convicted of looting more than $600 million from Tyco, some of which went to such extravagances as a $2 million Roman-themed birthday party for his wife on the island of Sardinia.

Koslowski is to be sentenced next month and faces up to 30 years behind bars.

The suspicious birthday party took place after Koslowski's first trial, which ended in an acquittal, and before his second trial, which ended in a conviction.
