Salaries of Accounting Managers Quantified in AFP Survey


April 28, 2005 (Accounting Department Management Report) The most current compensation report from the Association of Financial Professionals lists median salaries and total compensation for accounting managers, according to number of employees, gross revenue, and years of experience.



In developing this information, the AFP used the following job description: Manages general accounting functions. Oversees general ledger accounts and ensures accuracy of financial statements. Enforces accounting procedures and internal controls and oversees tax preparation.

* Number of employees: Less than 50, $50,000 and $54,000; 50 through 249, $62,500 and $63,000; 250 - 999, $65,000 and $67,600; 1,000 or more, $69,400 and $78,000.

*Gross revenue: Less than $100 million, $59,500 and $60,000; $100 million through $999.9 million, $73,900 and $75,000; and $1 billion or more, $76,700 and $80,000.

* Years of experience: Less than five, $60,600 and $63,600; six through 10, $67,500 and $67,500; and more than 10, $57,800 and $59,000.
