House Panel to Review Sarbanes-Oxley Act

April 30, 2004 (SmartPros) The House Financial Services Committee will review this summer the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, said Rep. Michael Oxley, co-creator of the Act.

At the Security Traders Association in Washington this week, Oxley said one or more hearings will be held to evaluate how the legislation is impacting businesses and whether or not it is working as intended.

The hearings would probably take place early this summer and would include testimony from corporate executives, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, he said.

In addition, Oxley told reporters that the House panel will soon review the Financial Accounting Standards Board's controversial stock option proposal.
