Cap Gemini Drops Ernst & Young Name

PARIS, April 19, 2004 (SmartPros) Consulting and technology services company Cap Gemini Ernst & Young announced it has dropped the Ernst & Young name and will now be called Capgemini.

To boost its brand image, the Paris-based firm launched a 30 million euro advertising campaign in Europe that includes a TV ad featuring Darren Cahill, Andre Agassi's coach. Another spot will feature David Bowie's sound engineer, Tony Visconti.

An additional 30 million euro will go to print and outdoor advertising.

Capgemini's split from Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young is a sign of the times. Fellow Big Four firms PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte & Touche and KPMG have all separated from their consulting arms.
