Eligible Accountant Woos 'Bachelorette' ATLANTA, Jan. 28, 2004 (SmartPros) In the latest reality dating series, ABC's "The Bachelorette," a group of handsome young men compete for the hand of a single beautiful woman. Most of the 25 candidates tout hip professions: hockey player, art designer, brew-pub owner, personal trainer. And then there's Sean Denham, a CPA and mergers and acquisitions specialist from Wall Township, New Jersey, and employee at one of the area's largest accounting firms, Amper, Politziner and Mattia. Denham has managed to quietly making the cut each week, moving one step closer to winning the heart of the bachelorette. "When I told the other bachelors on the show that I was an accountant, they were surprised," said Denham. "Their first thoughts were of a grey-haired tax practitioner with the old green eyeshade, or Leo Bloom, Mathew Broderick's role in The Producers." So what does Meredith, the lucky bachelorette think? "She was surprised that I was a CPA," said Denham. "I think she had visions of the Enron accountants and some of the other bad press the profession has been getting. But I do have a life outside of work and I make plenty of time for that too." As for personal ambitions, Denham is clear. "I've done my share of dating and came close to marriage," he said. "I want to be married, and the show seemed like a good opportunity." 2004 SmartPros Ltd. All rights reserved. |
