CPATrack.com Kicks Off Student Awareness Campaign

BOSTON, Apr. 24, 2003 The Massachusetts Society of CPAs, in partnership with iMarc, a Web development firm specializing in interactive Web sites, is launching a new public awareness initiative for the CPA profession through its Web site, CPATrack.com. The campaign targets both high school and college students and provides a location for students to explore accounting education and career opportunities.

"CPATrack.com will increase awareness and perception of the CPA profession among students and encourage enrollment in accountancy programs," said Barbara Iannoni, MSCPA Academic and Career Development Coordinator.

The Web site, developed with student input and launched in February, features information to assist students in their career decision-making by providing valuable resources, such as information about scholarships, internships, and the CPA exam. There is also a forum to ask questions and express opinions to students, educators, and CPAs.

The highlight of the site is a page featuring "cool" CPAs, including a FBI agent, a pilot and a sportrider. These "cool" CPAs share their thoughts on why they chose to become a CPA, and how their career decision has fit their lifestyle.

Public accounting firms, nonprofit organizations, and private companies have the opportunity to post accounting internship opportunities to the site for free, and MSCPA members will have access to students' resumes that are posted through the site.
