If you are looking for a book (yes, that's right, a book) that succinctly organizes the best of the accounting and finance Internet resources out there in cyberspace, this one may be your answer. Divided into 10 chapters (from "Searching the Internet" to "Public Company Analysis" to "Mergers & Acquisitions"), the authors have done a superb job of picking out winning sites that stand the test of time. They highlight only those that are "reliable, well organized, and rich sources of information." Every review also indicates whether or not the site is free or fee-based. The authors explain that sites offering all or part of the data for free are considered more desirable than sites offering similar data for a fee. Additionally, a visual exhibit of a site's homepage accompanies many of the reviews.
It is worth mentioning that since this book was published last year, there are outdated references. Case in point, our own Web site, which you now know as SmartPros, was formerly called Accounting Pro2Net, and this is how it is branded in this book. Other Web sites have undergone significant redesigns -- or disappeared altogether. Another potential change may be the cost of fee-based Web sites. Finally, Web site pages often get moved around, but for the most part you'll be redirected to the correct page.
