Affluent Investors Seek Financial Advisors and Firms, Says Survey
NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2002
Affluent investors feel empowered to gather and use financial information to make their own investment decisions, but most still place high value on professional guidance and seek trustworthy financial advisors and firms, according to a study commissioned by Dow Jones & Company and conducted by Harris Interactive.
The results of the Investor Mindset & Motivation study found that investors are looking for a trusted partner when making financial decisions, and that the advisor/broker relationship is the cornerstone of this partnership. While affluent investors did not regard any financial firm overwhelmingly as a trusted partner, almost two-thirds reported a significantly high level of trust and reliability in their primary broker and firm.
The findings indicate that there is an opportunity for financial services firms to differentiate themselves on trust. The study found that authenticity, integrity, and personalization are of key importantce to the affluent investor population.
