Event: ICPAS Conference to Identify New Approaches for Investigation and Elimination of Fraud Schemes


CHICAGO, Oct. 4, 2002 The 2002 Fraud Conference, co-sponsored by the Illinois CPA Society and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, will be held Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Standards Club in Chicago.



Fraud experts will present the latest techniques for identifying corruption schemes, conducting vendor audits, analyzing evidence and more.

Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss current corporate ethics issues in relation to fraud investigations.  New laws enacted for addressing corporate fraud and accountability will also be discussed. 

Featured speakers include Thomas Knier, special agent in charge, Chicago division, Federal Bureau of Investigations, speaking on the U.S. government's response to corporate fraud; Craig L. Greene, partner, Rome Associates LLP, discussing a cookbook approach to investigating schemes involving kickbacks, bribes and economic extortion; Paul T. Fox, attorney, Greenberg, Traurig PC, outlining the process for maintaining the integrity of evidence throughout the investigation; Allan Boress, consultant, Allan Boress & Associates, presenting the most effective strategies for marketing and selling fraud-related services; and Robert P. Gardner, attorney, Robert Gardner & Associates, speaking on how to use the Internet and commercial online databases as investigative tools.

The conference begins with opening remarks at 8:15 a.m. and adjourns at 4:30 p.m.  Participants will earn 8 CPE credits. Cost of the conference is $275 for ICPAS and ACFE members, and $345 for non-members. Those who register by October 17 will receive a $25 early bird discount.
