SunTrust Dumps Andersen After 60 Years

ATLANTA, Feb. 15, 2002 Atlanta-based SunTrust Banks announced it has appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers as the corporation's auditor, replacing Arthur Andersen, its auditor of 60 years.

SunTrust said it had been considering changing accounting firms since April and that the decision had nothing to do with Andersen's connection to the Enron debacle.

Andersen received $1.7m in 2001 for auditing SunTrust's books and an additional $1.4 for its consultancy arrangements with the firm, according to Financial Times.
