Third International XBRL Conference to be Held in Australia NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2001 (Business Wire) The Institute for Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants New Zealand, and CPA Australia will host an international XBRL conference that will represent the many organizations and sectors involved in the development of the universal business reporting language, XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language). The conference will be held at Le Meridien Hotel in Sydney, Australia on Oct. 22-26, 2001. Scheduled speakers include XBRL leaders from the accounting institutes from around the world, including Big Five accounting firms, financial institutions, investment analysts, software companies and national and international government agencies who are developing and using XBRL. Technology firms will be providing demos of their tools and services available to help companies begin to use XBRL for their business reporting needs.
XBRL provides both public and private companies with an effective way to prepare and distribute various business reports (financial statements, credit and loan reports, tax, audit and others reports) using the Internet in a cost effective and universal manner. The Third International XBRL Conference will highlight efforts to bridge the exchange of data across global platforms and industry sectors and discuss software tools available to help companies benefit by incorporating XBRL into their existing business processes.
Over 100 organizations from around the world make up the XBRL committee. Major U.S. players include the American Institute of CPAs, Microsoft Corp. and the U.S. Census Bureau.
