Cpa2Biz Acquires Capital Professional Advisors

NEW YORK, July 12, 2001 (SmartPros)(Business Wire) Cpa2Biz announced that it has acquired Capital Professional Advisors, Inc. Capital is the exclusive provider of financial services to 17 public accounting firms in the U.S.

"We were attracted to Capital because it represented an opportunity to take a tested financial services platform that had been built by some of the nation's leading CPA firms and open it up to a broader CPA community," said Brett Prager, President and CEO of Cpa2Biz. "And because Cpa2Biz was built by CPAs for CPAs, the Capital acquisition fits perfectly with this strategy."

"We saw this opportunity to become part of Cpa2Biz as the perfect way to meet the increasing demand among CPAs and their clients for a broad portfolio of financial services," said Doug Wright, President and COO of Capital. "The Capital model already has a proven track record among thousands of CPAs -- it positions Cpa2Biz to expand that audience to an even larger marketplace."

Formed in November 1999, Capital makes available investment advisory, brokerage and insurance services to more than 300,000 individual and small business clients of some of the nation's most respected CPA firms.

Cpa2Biz was developed by CPAs for CPAs, their clients and employers as a comprehensive provider of tools, resources, value-added services and application solutions that strengthen and add value to the relationships between CPAs and the organizations they serve. Cpa2Biz's partners -- the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and state, district and territory CPA societies -- represent 425,000 members of the accounting profession in the United States. Strategic partners include Microsoft Corporation, Thomson Corporation and Aon Corporation.
