IRS Revamps Net Presence, Says Sayonara to Digital Daily

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 13, 2001 (SmartPros) Say sayonara to the Digital Daily -- after five years, the Internal Revenue Service plans to unveil a new look for its Web site.

The Electronic Tax Administration, which took over responsibility for the agency's Internet presence from the Multimedia Publishing Division earlier this month, announced that a new IRS Web presence will replace the popular Digital Daily.

The IRS said the new look will be "a more contemporary styled portal page" that will give visitors quicker and easier access to tax information and will be simpler to navigate.

The new homepage will be divided into segments representing the different types of taxpayer communities and tax professionals to "reflect the modernized IRS," the agency said.

A preview of the new site is posted at http://www.irs.gov/preview/index.html.
