1st Global Rolls Out Web-Based Account Aggregation Service

DALLAS, Feb.3, 2001 (SmartPros) 1st Global Inc., a Dallas-based broker/dealer with accounting and tax professionals as a primary distribution channel, has rolled out a Web-based account aggregation and portfolio management application for its advisors.

WebPortfolio, developed by Mass.-based software maker ByAllAccounts, automatically aggregates account information from some 800 brokerage firms, banks, trust companies, mutual funds and insurance companies.

The application enables 1st Global advisors to create a consolidated picture of all their clients' financial holdings and historical transactions from multiple custodians, and to analyze and manage a set of client-specific portfolios.

"We realized account aggregation was a huge step in the market," said Tony Batman, 1st Global chairman and chief executive. "We believe this service will strengthen our affiliates' efforts to solidify client relationships while also increasing productivity."

While a number of firms court accountants to offer their products to clients, Batman's outfit, which has forged alliances with a number of high profile CPA firms and firm associations, is one of a handful that have been successful in swaying CPAs to branch out into financial services. The firm has over 1,400 affiliates that account for a combined $660 million in tax and accounting revenue.
