COO of Centerprise Information Solutions Steps Down

DALLAS, Feb. 3, 2001 (SmartPros) After two years on the job, the chief operating officer of Centerprise Information Solutions, formerly Brunswick/MicroAccounting Solutions, has stepped down.

Philip Schwalb, pictured below, left the Dallas-based technology consulting firm on Jan. 26 to pursue other interests. Schwalb said Centerprise is restructuring management and will not replace him, but will distribute his responsibilities to others within the company.

"For me, I want to get back to an organization where they are smaller and I would perform in a COO role in a smaller business," said Schwalb.

Last summer, seven firms came together to form the rollup outfit Centerprise Advisors, making it the 13th largest accounting firm in the nation. Brunswick/MicroAccounting Solutions, which was renamed Centerprise Information Solutions, joined the conglomerate to serve as Centerprise Advisors' technology unit.

"It is just very different. There's a lot more connection to the parent company," said Schwalb. "The responsibility and authority have been reorganized because of the parent company."

Since leaving Centerprise, Schwalb said he has been in talks with consulting firms in both Orlando and New York, where he has worked in the past. He has also been in talks with a "primary software vendor," which Schwalb did not wish to name.

"It is very important to me to return (to New York or Orlando) from Dallas on a personal level," said Schwalb.
