Entry-Level Accounting Jobs Abundant; Grads Seek Strong Salaries Despite Recession
Despite the recession and 5.7 unemployment rate last month, many college students that will earn their diplomas this spring have significant job opportunities. More

 

 

For additional Salary and Occupation information, here are some helpful tips:

1.  Visit the U.S. Dept. of Education for the Occupational Outlook Handbook 2002-2003 Ed. This includes sections on the "nature of the work," employment forecasts, sources for additional information, working conditions, median salaries, training qualifications and related occupations. Here are some quick links:

2.  Contact the organization that represents your profession. For instance, as a CPA, contact your local CPA state society office. If a management accountant, contact the IMA. Etc.

3.  Conduct informational interviews. Speak to HR professionals in various companies in your area for information regarding job description and salary for the position(s) in which you are interested.

4.  Ask your state employment office for salary information.
