AICPA Taps Davis as COO

NEW YORK, Dec. 20, 2000 (SmartPros) The American Institute of CPAs has tapped Clarence Davis for the new position of chief operating officer.

In his new role, Davis' responsibilities will include directing day-to-day operations, identifying and developing business opportunities and developing and managing the institute's organizational operations. He will report to president and chief executive Barry Melancon.

Davis, who joined the AICPA in 1998, previously served as chief financial officer. He served as past chair of the Committee for Minority Recruitment and Equal Opportunity from 1980-83, and as a member of the Future Issues Committee (1984-87) and Institute Council (1989-92).

Prior to joining the IACPA, Davis operated his own consulting firm, Clarence A. Davis Enterprises Inc.

There's no word yet on who will replace Davis as CFO, an institute spokesman said.
