Damgaard Axapta 2.5. includes new features and improved functionality in areas including fixed assets, electronic payment, cost accounting, and human resource management 2.0. The new version communicates via Wireless Application Protocol and XML (Extensible Markup Language), the company said.

"This new version fits in well with our overall strategy," said Niels Bo Theilgaard, chief product officer. "It illustrates how our customers will benefit from the NavisionDamgaard merger. Both our product lines will make use of our common portal technology and document exchange capabilities."

The merger of the two rival software vendors, announced last month, will create a company with a global customer base of 120,000 installations, an international business partner channel of more than 2,000 partners, and more than 1,000 employees. The merger will be voted on during shareholder meetings this month.

The combined company will continue to market the two present companies' main product lines: Damgaard Axapta, Navision Solutions, Damgaard XAL and Damgaard C5.
