RSM McGladrey Expands Investment Advisory Offerings

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 19, 2000 (SmartPros) RSM McGladrey, the accounting firm consolidator owned by H&R Block, has moved to expand its investment advisory offerings through an alliance with Prima Capital, a Denver-based business-to-business financial web applications provider.

Under the deal, Prima Capital will provide a customized version of its PrimaGuide, an online research and due diligence database on private money managers and mutual funds. Prima will offer the service through RSM McGladrey alliance partner BAM Advisor Services, a St. Louis, Mo.-based turnkey asset management provider that focuses on Passive Asset Class investments. McGladrey forged an alliance with BAM in July.

"This alliance will enable us to better serve the investment advisory needs of our high-net-worth individual clients with passive and active mutual funds, privately managed accounts, and client reporting services," said Patricia Murphy, RSM McGladrey executive vice president. "Though BAM Advisor Services has traditionally focused on passive asset class strategies for client portfolios, the alliance with Prima Capital enables us to offer a complementary active management solution."

RSM McGladrey is a SEC Registered Investment Advisor. Insurance services are offered through its wholly owned subsidiary Birchtree Financial Services Inc.
