As the push to move tax prep online continues, online organizers are becoming increasingly popular. The feature, springing up in a number of products this year, enables customers to enter their tax data on a secure Web site, from which tax professionals can usually download it directly into their software, cutting down on paper shuffling and data entry. Intuit added a similar feature to its ProSeries tax software this year.

The Easy Online Organizer is available at no cost to tax professionals using Taasc's Professional Tax System and Web-hosting service at www.easyacct.com.

"We recognize the need to help professional accountants/CPAs become 'Internet ready'," said Tim Redmond, executive vice president. "Tax professionals must find ways to create better efficiencies and time savings if they hope to compete effectively in today's fast-paced environment."

Earlier this month, Taasc expanded its online tax service, preptax.com, to serve individual taxpayers who prepare their own returns.
