Letters to the Editor The Right Direction -- But Need a New TrackRe: AICPA's Plan for Global Business Designation Forges Ahead From: C.D.Giedt, CPA, cdgcpa@msn.com About cognating ... This is a tough one for me. Over the last several years I have known and worked several hours with Bob Elliot. I still work with some of his partners on different projects from time to time. So basically this is one very smart guy in my mind. I remember many years ago when I first met Bob Elliot he was chairing the strategic planning committee at the AICPA. Back then, before anyone knew what the Internet was, he wanted to have the big 8 or 6 or what ever they were at the time work together with the AICPA to "brand name" "Webtrust" or the precursor to it. Of course, like everything else CPAs do, instead of doing it we studied it. If I'm not mistaken, we are still studying and like all business opportunities the barn door is always open. In sum, I think we are going in the right direction, but we need a new track. I hope we can come together on a new name. Just came up with Citor or Sytor or Colsytor or Sycoltor. And I haven't even worked at it. We should be able to come up with something more creative that will fit in the "natural order or logic" of the business. For example, Webmaster. This is a "new word" combining new and old elements. Jan. 3, 2001 Read more Letters to the Editor regarding the Cognitor designation. |
