SEC Names Chief Litigation Counsel

WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 9, 2000 (SmartPros) The Division of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission has named a chief litigation counsel.

David L. Kornblau has been selected to supervise the Enforcement Division's litigation program. He succeeds Christian J. Mixter, who left the Commission in September.

Kornblau joined the Commission in July 1995 as an assistant chief litigation counsel. Among the cases he has prosecuted for the Commission is an action filed earlier this year against Florida hedge fund manager, David Mobley, Sr., who reportedly hid $59 million in investor losses by fabricating account statements for seven years, the SEC said.

Kornblau, who has a law degree from Harvard Law School, also worked as a litigator at the New York-based law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. He also served as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, the SEC said.
