Simulate the CPA Exam

Dec. 11, 2000 (SmartPros) Many candidates test their knowledge by working only multiple-choice questions. This is very dangerous.

[Editor's Note: this article is in reference to the old paper-based exam, not the computer-based exam that is now in use.]

Recall the suggested multiple-choice percentage for each exam section is only 50 to 60 percent of the total exam.  The remaining points are tested using the other questions formats. Allocate some study time to working all question types. Practice by using the methods that will be used on the real exam. For example, while software is an excellent study tool, if the software does not include examples of all question types, you are not experiencing the real thing.

Remember that the exam is still tested in the pencil and paper format. Practice using pencil and paper and practice using all question types.
