Finance Execs Show Growing Interest in Web-Based Budgeting, Survey Says ANN ARBOR, Mich., Dec. 2, 2000 (SmartPros) Financial executives are showing greater interest in integrated systems, balanced scorecards, increased accountability and Web-based budgeting, according to a recent survey. The third-annual survey, "The Comshare 2000 Survey of Top Financial Executives: Planning and Budgeting Today," was released by Comshare Inc., a provider of Web-based management and control planning solutions. The results of the survey are based on 154 questionnaires completed by professionals in a Financial Executives International Financial Policy Peer Group Series meeting or budgeting events from October 1999 to June 2000. According to the survey, Web-based budgeting is on the rise. While only 9 percent of the respondents said they use Web-based budgeting, of the 91 percent who are not using the Web, about 30 percent said they will migrate to the Web within the next year. In addition, using balanced scorecards is becoming a hot tool, said the respondents, who want greater control over their organizations' performance and want to compare key measurements against the plan, competitors and financial portfolio. Respondents also expressed great interest in integrated systems and increased accountability, the survey found. Other key findings include: a need for faster, streamlined processes, a desire to provide access to budget data for all accountable managers, and a need to speed up the time it takes to perform planning and budgeting tasks. -- SmartPros News Staff Send comments to information@smartpros.com. 2000, Smartpros Ltd.
