E1040.com Inks Three-Year Deal With Orrtax


WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Nov. 29, 2000 (SmartPros) Anticipating a significant increase in business, online tax preparation service e1040.com, a subsidiary of tax prep and financial services firm Gilman + Ciocia, Inc., has struck a three-year deal with Orrtax Software, Inc., a Bellevue, Wash.-based tax software firm, to provide filing center services.



G+C said it expects a "significant increase from the more than 35,000 tax returns that were prepared during fiscal year 2000." The deal with Orrtax "will let us serve more on-line tax clients and provide better service without any development costs," according to David Puyear, Gilman + Ciocia's chief financial officer.

Orrtax will be processing all of e1040.com's taxpayer prepared Federal, State and Bank Products from the automated tax preparation service through the Orrtax onsite Filing Center.

E1040.com offers online tax return preparation services including electronic filing and refund anticipation loan capabilities, tax forms, instructions, and publications by fax, and a tax calculator. This past season, e1040.com served 1.6 million unique site visitors and processed 35,000 tax returns.

Publicly traded Gilman + Ciocia, Inc., based in White Plains, combines tax preparation services with financial planning services that include securities brokerage services, insurance and mortgage agency and finder services. Gilman + Ciocia has more than 145 offices in 17 states and more than $8 billion in assets under management.
