H&R Block, MSN Form Marketing Alliance

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 18, 2000 (SmartPros) Consumers who have their taxes prepared at H&R Block may not be getting refunds just from the Internal Revenue Service, they may be eligible for cash rebates from MSN too.

Tax giant H&R Block has formed a marketing alliance with MSN, a provider of Internet access. As part of the alliance, any H&R Block client who signs up for three years of MSN Internet access may qualify for a $300 mail-in rebate from MSN, the company stated. One year and two-year agreements are available with $75 and $150 rebates.

"Our relationship with MSN is the first of many new alliances we will have in 2001 that will reward our clients loyalty and also help attract new taxpayers to experience H&R Block," said David Byers, H&R Block's chief marketing officer.

In addition, a limited amount of MSN Internet installation CDs will also be available in Block offices. The standard MSN access plan is $21.95 per month with unlimited usage, according to H&R Block.
