Good Presentation Skills Provide Extra Boost Nov. 18, 2000 (SmartPros) Being good is not good enough, according to leading consultants. You must also be able to translate industry trends into speaking engagements and a comprehensive marketing plan. But there's tricky balance between providing practical information about best practices and giving it all away for free, SmartPros says in Smart CPAs Convert Industry Trends into Good PR. "Preparing for a business presentation or a speech is like preparing for a media interview," advises Steve Mace, president of ACM Media Training and Public Relations in Dallas. "First, develop your key message points. Ask yourself what three messages do I want the audience to remember? Then prioritize them in order of importance. After that, it's simple to round out the rest of the presentation." Presentations also need flair, says Karen Steele. "Black and white overheads make you look old-fashioned and unable to change." -- SmartPros News Staff Send comments to information@smartpros.com 2000, Smartpros Ltd. All Rights Reserved. |
