Deloitte & Touche Names New Leaders for Women's Initiative

NEW YORK, Nov. 15, 2000 (SmartPros) Deloitte & Touche has tapped two new leaders to head its internal human resources program focused on the recruitment and advancement of women.

D&T has tapped Sue Molina as national director for its Initiative for the Retention and Advancement of Women. Liz White has been named to the leadership position of the Women's Initiative at Deloitte Consulting.

Molina and White succeed Mary Ellen Rodgers and Ellen Stafford-Sigg respectively, who now lead other areas for the firm. Rodgers has been named office managing partner for the West Michigan Practice. Stafford-Sigg has been named global director of strategy and acquisitions for Deloitte Consulting.

Molina most recently served as the partner responsible for the firm's Central Atlantic Real Estate Tax Practice. Molina has also chaired the Central Atlantic Women's Initiative Executive and Advisory Board. Prior to joining D&T, she spent 20 years serving real estate clients at Ernst & Young.

White, a principal with Deloitte Consulting who joined the firm in 1993, currently practices in the Energy Industry group, focusing on the information technology issues facing oil and gas and utility companies. She also consults in the Human Resources competency, helping clients to define workforce and other resource management strategies and system solutions.

"Our Initiative for the Retention and Advancement of Women has achieved terrific success over its first seven years," said James E. Copeland, Jr., chief executive of Deloitte & Touche and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. "We want to achieve much more. Sue Molina and Liz White have the drive, vision and leadership to raise the bar for women's leadership and global advancement -- not only for the firm, but also for the profession."

Since the creation of the program, Deloitte & Touche has boosted its percentage of women partners to 14 percent in 2000 from 6.5 percent in 1993.

"We will continue to embed the founding principles of advancement, flexibility and inclusiveness into our culture while spearheading new efforts in the area of Women's Leadership -- here in the U.S. and abroad," Molina said. "We want to increase the number of women who are leading practice areas and geographic regions in the next three years."
