FEI Goes Global NEW YORK, Nov. 8, 2000 (SmartPros) In an effort to better reflect the global interests of its members, the Financial Executives Institute, a Morristown, N.J.-based association for corporate finance professionals, has changed its name and opened its doors to membership outside of North America.
The 15,000-member organization is expanding its ranks beyond the U.S. and Canada to include finance professionals from around the world, president Philip B. Livingston told some 540 attendees at the group's 19th Annual Current Financial Reporting Issues Conference here on Monday.
"It has become increasingly apparent that finance officers need global representation," Livingston said in his opening remarks at the meeting at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. "Widely accepted international accounting standards are on the horizon, and the globalization of stock markets is also at hand. Both demand that FEI enhance its efforts to represent finance officers internationally." The group has also revamped its Web site, at www.fei.org. -- By Melissa Klein Send comments to information@smartpros.com 2000, Smartpros Ltd. All Rights Reserved. |
