BDO Seidman Expands Dallas Practice

CHICAGO, DALLAS, Nov. 4, 2000 (SmartPros) In a move to expand its Dallas practice, BDO Seidman, LLP, a professional services firm based here, has joined forces with Dallas' second largest, locally owned accounting firm, Belew Averitt, LLP.

The combination of the two firms makes BDO Seidman one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in Dallas. Internationally, the BDO organization, which was established in 1910, has over 500 member firm offices in more than 90 countries.

"The addition of the professionals and staff from Belew Averitt will increase and enhance BDO Seidman's existing presence and technical skills in the important Dallas market," said Denis Field, BDO Seidman chairman and chief executive.

The new BDO office will total about 125 partners and staff, the company stated.

For Belew Averitt, which was founded in 1976, joining BDO means the firm will be able to expand its service offerings to include financial planning and investment management, business valuations, Securities and Exhange Commission and Initial Public Offering representation, and expanded litigation support, the company said.
