Camden Will Not Join Centerprise Due to "Personal Considerations" CHICAGO, Nov. 3, 2000 (SmartPros) A move by accounting firm consolidator Centerprise Advisors to bring in a Clifton Gunderson technology director to serve as its chief technology officer and president of its technology solutions group has come to a stand still.
On Wednesday, Matthew Camden, director of technology at Clifton Gunderson in Peoria, Ill., was to join Centerprise. However, Centerprise recently reported that "due to personal considerations, Matt Camden and Centerprise have decided to indefinitely postpone the start of his employment at Centerprise." Centerprise primarily serves mid-market firms with services that include forensic accounting, litigation support, mergers and acquisitions, business infrastructure planning, ISO 9000 consulting, information technology and employee benefit administration. The firm serves more than 15,000 clients and employs 1,000 professionals. According to Centerprise, Camden will stay at Clifton Gunderson. Camden is reportedly out of the office until next week and could not be reached for comment. Ron Eagle, chief operating officer of the Business Systems Solutions Division, said, "The only thing I can say at this point is that everything is on hold for now. We will wait for some undetermined period to see how quickly Matt gets his situation resolved." Had Camden joined Centerprise, he would have reported to Eagle. Eagle would not elaborate on what "situation" needs to be resolved, and it is unclear at this point whether Camden will assume a position at Centerprise in the future or if the company will seek another candidate. However, Eagle added, "Matt is an extraordinary talent in our minds, and he would always be welcomed at Centerprise." As president of Centerprise Technology Solutions, Camden would have been in charge of building and managing a national consulting practice focused on the infrastructure needs of clients, including network design implementation and support, telephony integration, Web-based applications and hosting, network security, knowledge management and custom programming. In his role as chief technology officer, Camden would have been responsible for developing and managing the Centerprise Advisors master technology plan and for the standardization and integration of the various technologies that acquired firms bring to the Centerprise Advisors consolidated firm. -- By Antoinette Alexander Send comments to information@smartpros.com 2000, Smartpros Ltd.
