SAP to Expand U.S. Headquarters


NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa., Oct. 27, 2000 (SmartPros) European software giant SAP plans to expand its U.S. headquarters here with the creation of a new center for e-business research, development and education.



The expansion plan will bring the company's investment in the Americas' headquarters site to nearly $200 million. As part of the plan, SAP said it would add nearly 600 jobs at the site by the end of 2002. The company currently employs 1,500 people at the Newtown Square campus.

The site serves as the headquarters of the SAP Americas subsidiary, which comprises of operations in the United States, Canada, and Central and South America.

"The Global Solution Center will be an international resource for e-business study where we will work closely with our customers to understand their needs and develop solutions that help enable them, with the transformation of their business, to successfully compete in the e-business economy," said Wolfgang Kemna, chief executive officer of SAP America.
