The newest version of Checkpoint, which is scheduled to go live in December, adds search and productivity enhancements and new content sections on financial reporting.
New search features include: a tax thesaurus customized for each practice area; display of 'words around hits'; and table of contents searches, RIA said.
A custom thesaurus for each practice area has been added to help users create more comprehensive, but highly-focused searches. Researchers can activate the thesaurus while formulating a search query to bring up a list of words that directly relate to the terms in the query. Thesaurus customization also gives users the option to choose which thesaurus terms are appropriate to expand their query, rather than forcing users to use all the related words or none of the related terms.
The 'words around hits feature,' which delivers results that include the search term along with several words before and after it to put the search term in context, lets users review and evaluate the documents returned by a search without opening them.
"We are hearing from customers that they need to be able to quickly narrow a search and hone-in on the correct results without giving up the ability to conduct broad, more comprehensive searches," said Ron Burkert, director of marketing. "Checkpoint 4.0 provides those capabilities and much more."
Two new practice areas, WG&L Financial Reporting & Management and Payroll Compliance, have also been added. Version 4.0 will also include the interactive checklists first found on RIA's "WG&L Corporate Finance Network."
A preview and demo of the new features is available online.
