H.D. Vest Receives WebTrust Seal IRVING, Texas, Oct. 14, 2000 (SmartPros) H.D. Vest, Inc., a provider of tax preparation and financial services that recruits accounting and tax professionals for its distribution channel, has been stamped with two WebTrust privacy seals sponsored by the American Institute of CPAs. The seals, which were granted by Grant Thornton, are located on the home pages of the company's free online tax prep site, www.hdvest.com, and on its personal Web page portal, www.myhdvest.com, the company stated. The AICPA's WebTrust program certifies that the use of private customer information by the company is in conformity with WebTrust criteria. The WebTrust program is a consultative process that regularly tests and verifies a site's policies and procedures, disclosures, technology and infrastructure to provide assurance that private information is protected and secure, the company stated. More than 200 accounting firms, including Arthur Andersen, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers, will offer the new WebTrust Program for online privacy to their clients.
