Fidelity Launches Internet-Based Payroll Service for Small Businesses

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 9, 2000 (SmartPros) Marking its push into employee services, Fidelity Investments has launched the latest addition to its suite of Internet-based services, a payroll service geared for small businesses.

Fidelity Electronic Payroll, designed for firms with up to 500 employees, leverages Fidelity's existing Web-based platforms, such as Fidelity Plan Sponsor WebStation and Fidelity NetBenefits.

With Fidelity Electronic Payroll, all transactions occur online and are sent via the Internet to Fidelity for processing. The service allows firms to view payroll results a few days prior to posting. Employees can view their own statement-of-earnings and make changes to personal data, deductions and direct deposits online through the service, Fidelity said.

Employees can also automatically view statement-of-earnings, check their earnings history and view account balances online.
