RIA Sells Property Tax Product Line to Vertex BERWYN, Pa., July 21, 2000 (SmartPros) Moving to focus efforts on its income tax, sales and use tax and 1099 software, accounting and tax research and software vendor RIA is selling its InSource property tax product line to Vertex Inc., a provider of multi-state tax compliance software based in Berwyn, Pa. Vertex plans to offer RIA's property tax software customers a migration to its own Quantum for Property Tax system. Vertex and RIA product managers have developed a migration template that Vertex will use to prepare a customized plan for each RIA customer, said Steve Richard, Vertex Director of Product Support. "We have a core understanding of how the two systems map to each other," Richard said. "Moving forward, we'll be working with each customer to understand the specifics of their business, how they use RIA's solution, and how that will work in our Quantum environment. Our commitment is to have a smooth, customer-specific migration from one system to the other, ensuring the customer is up and running for next year's filing season." Vertex also provides automated tax compliance software and reference publications for sales and use, payroll, telecommunications, and electronic commerce taxation. The company has strategic partnerships with firms that include Clarify, IBM, JD Edwards, Lawson, Microsoft, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, and Siebel. -- SmartPros News StaffSend comments to information@smartpros.com 2000, Smartpros Ltd.
