With only 10 percent of those who take the CPA exam pass it the first time. "It should come as no surprise," according to Kaplan CPA Review, "that being one of those 10 percent holding a CPA can open a variety of professional doors."

In a survey commissioned by Robert Half International, 79 percent of executives polled said that accountants are playing a more active role throughout their companies.

In addition, the 1999 Salary Guide from Robert Half International and Accountemps indicates that for many positions, the CPA can draw a salary of up to 10 percent higher than that of a non-CPA.
